Fall Season

About the Program

The recreation program consists of a Fall soccer season for area youth aged from under six years old to under nineteen years old.  Our Recreational program is one of the largest in the country, with thousands of participants.  The season starts in late August, and teams practice one day a week.  Games begin in September and end in November. Sharks in the Park/Picture Day will be held in October and U8-U14 players will experience a fun, Sharks teams only tournament, which is held in early November towards the end of the season.

The DMCV Shark’s Winter League Program, also known as Junior World Cup, was established in 2004 and meets on five Sundays in February and March. This Sunday league was created for boys and girls ages 5 to 12.

Junior World Cup
This program is geared toward younger players, who are looking to develop their technical ball skills and broaden their soccer knowledge with the help of our professional Sharks’ coaching staff. Players of all levels are welcome to participate and learn from some of the top coaches in Southern California. Junior World Cup was founded with the goal of creating a positive learning environment, while encouraging our players to imagine what it would be like to play for an international team such as Germany, Brazil, France, Italy, and of course the USA!!!

Each one hour session is divided into 30 minutes of technical training followed by 30 minutes of small-sided games. Below is the breakdown of times for each specific age group.

There are three age appropriate sessions each week.  Please register for the correct group. For more information please contact Erin Misaki (858) 876-3121.

“Any cancellations/requests for refunds made after February 15, 2018 will result in a $50 fee being withheld from the registration fee paid.”

Minor League Soccer (MLS) – Boys & Girls Ages 5 to 12
This is the second year of our popular and revamped MLS program which provides additional skills training for our players and games.  This program will run on Fridays and Sundays.  Friday sessions will be comprised of a 1 hour training session, which includes a dynamic warm-up followed by technical skills trainings and fun games!  Sunday sessions will include a recap on some of the basic skills followed by small-sided games.  All of our sessions will be coached by our professional coaching staff, in hopes of providing our recreational players with a stronger foundation of technical skills, and a better understanding of the game.

Erin Misaki, Director of Recreational
Erin Misaki begins her third season with the Sharks after two years as the Director of Coaching for Saddleback United where she worked closely with former US National Team star, Joy Fawcett. Prior to that, Erin worked with Velocity Sports in Santa Clarita from 2008 to 2009 where she taught soccer specific speed, agility and strength classes. Erin has been a youth coach since 2000 and she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Sharks.

As a player, Erin played for the U14, U16, U18 and U21 youth national teams. She played her college soccer at the University of Portland where she was the captain of the first National Championship team for the University. After Portland, Erin was drafted into the WUSA where she played professionally for the Philadelphia Charge. Erin then went on to play professionally in Japan with the Tokyo Verdi Team.

Erin graduated from the University of Portland in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree of Art and Social Sciences. She also received an Interdisciplinary Degree, three disciplines combined into one: Sociology, Psychology and Education.

Coaches and Assistant Coaches
We are always looking to add to our roster of coaches, at all levels of experience. If you know someone who is interested in making a difference in a young soccer player’s life, please have them contact our Director of Coaching.

The requirements for coaching are set by our parent organization, Cal South. All Head and Assistant coaches must go through Risk Management (fingerprinting) that is paid for by the league. In addition, coaches are now required to have a coaching license and we offer a minimum or two license classes per season. You will also be asked to attend a coaches meeting in August. For detailed information, contact our Director of Coaching.

Team Parents
Team parents are a tremendous help to the coach and make the season run more smoothly for all. Your participation as a team parent is invaluable to the operation of our soccer club.
